Is there such thing as hardship distributions for an IRA?

No - there is no such thing as a hardship distribution from an IRA. Unlike a qualified plan, which restricts your access to funds, you can take money out of your IRA anytime (subject to penalties in some cases), a hardship distribution is not necessary.
